About Piwacket

EDUCATION OUTREACH PROGRAM

In 1989 OFF The CUFF formed Piwacket Theatre for Children as an Education Outreach Program to entertain less fortunate children at no cost to them. Thanks to the generous support of many individuals and patrons, Piwacket's Fairytale Repertory has toured to over 300,000 children across the nation - from Harlem to the low country in South Carolina, from New Jersey to Illinois and throughout Missouri.

Thanks to the generosity of the Employees Community Fund of Boeing – St. Louis, Nestle Purina Petcare, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Metro St. Louis and the Tilles Fund, this year Piwacket Theatre for Children performed for over 8,000 children and their families in hospitals, shelters, inner city schools and special needs centers in Missouri and Illinois.

What makes Piwacket unique is its dedication to children and the value it places on Character Education. Piwacket's cleverly adapted shows involve audiences with catchy songs, lively dances and magical props. All Piwacket sets are designed to adapt to a variety of spaces, from hospital rooms to festival halls, from shelters to 1,000 seat theatres.

Piwacket interactive fairytale performances have proven to be an enjoyable event for children who are ill, victims of domestic violence, learning disabled and physically challenged. Piwacket's upbeat rhythmic chants and brightly colored costumes add laughter to the day. As one caregiver said, "Laughter can be the best medicine of all."
